Motivation: Statistics Canada reports population projections by age for Canada, but with a low frequency (annual) and short history (2010).
Response: For analytical convenience and international consistency, we have estimated the above indicator, but at a quarterly frequency and starting at 1946.
Properties:
- Measurement: Thousands of persons (Ths. #)
- Adjustment: Seasonally adjusted (SA)
- Periodicity: Quarterly
- Start date: As early as 1946Q1
- Horizon: 45 years (2063Q2)
- Geo coverage: National
- Age brackets: All ages, three broad brackets (0 to 14, 15 to 64, 65 and older), seven ten-year brackets
The series reside in the historical catalog (Canada » Demographics » Population » Moody's Analytics Estimates » Population projection by age) and include, for example:
- RJPOPQ.ICAN = Population - All ages, (Ths. #, SA)
- RJPOP0014Q.ICAN = Ages 0 to14
- RJPOP4554Q.ICAN = Ages 45 to 54
- RJPOP75GQ.ICAN = Ages 75 and older
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Method: Please see the background documentation in Mnemonic 411.
