The lending rate was redefined in 2005. The source (Bank of Mauritius) explained in a footnote the July 2008 statistical bulletin (citation):
Since December 2005, the Weighted Average Rupee Term Deposits and Lending Rates of banks have been reviewed to reflect the actual weighted averages of interest rates rather than a simple average of the weighted average interest rates that each bank report on a monthly basis to the Bank. As such, these weighted average interest rates are not strictly comparable with those previously reported in the same table.
Because the two definitions have overlapping history, we have created separate time series.
Series properties:
- Measurement: Percent per annum (% p.a.)
- Adjustment: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA)
- Native frequency: Monthly
- Date range: 1997m12 to 2008m5
The pair of series reside in the historical catalog:
and are:
- IR%LN_08UM.IMUS = [DISCONTINUED] Commercial banks - Lending rate, (% p.a., NSA) - to 2008m5
- IR%LNUM.IMUS = Commercial banks - Lending rate, (% p.a., NSA) - from 2005m12
