Please be aware that:

• These measure trade in goods (merchandise), not services.
• Real trade is the ratio of nominal value of trade to the trade price index. The nominal value of trade depends on both the quantity and price per unit.
• Volume indexes are adjusted for inflation.
• We have standardized the mnemonics of the replacement series. The predecessors erroneously represented these series as part of Japan's balance of payments presentation.
• We have standardized the unit-descriptor to mark these series as volume indexes.
