Data Change: Mexico - CCI - Redefined
Friday, 06 Mar 2020 16:00 ET
By Ryan Kelly
Summary
March 2020 -- The national consumer confidence survey for Mexico (ENCO) has changed the analytic form of the series (12 monthly series 2001 to 2019, replaced from 2001).
Detail

So far as we can determine, all indicators have been redefined from a diffusion index with a central value of 100 to a balance of opinion. Unchanged is that the consumer confidence index is the average of the five questions numbered P3 to P8. The start date is unchanged.

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors by renaming with an "_03" specifier, marking metadata as"discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
  2. Otherwise refurbished the metadata, including the unit-descriptor. (It incorrectly denoted a fixed-base index relative to 2003.)
  3. Created one-for-one replacements.

Dataset properties:

  • Source title: Encuesta Nacional sobre Confianza del Consumidor (ENCO)
  • Measurement: Bal of opinion (Bal. of opinion)
  • Adjustments: Seasonally adjusted (SA) or not (NSA)
  • Native frequency: Monthly
  • Start date: 2001m4

The series reside in the historical catalog:

  • Mexico » Cyclical Indicators » Consumer confidence (ENCO) » From 2001
