Mnemonic Change: France - CPI - Geo Code
Wednesday, 11 Jan 2012 18:04 ET
By Elissa Adams
Summary
January 2012 -- As part of our self-standardization efforts, we have changed the geography coding on the detailed national CPI dataset for France; its 108 series are now CPI?UM.IFRA_XDOM.
Detail

For the French national consumer price index detailed by consumption dataset (concept code pattern CPI?UM), we have changed the geo code from IFRA to IFRA_XDOM.  This more accurately describes the geographic sample, which is "metropolitan France," i.e., excluding the five overseas departments.  (If they are specifically included, our geo code is IFRA_NDOM.)

For example, the CPI for non-alcoholic beverages was CPINABUM.IFRA and is now CPINABUM.IFRA_XDOM.  There are 108 affected monthly time series.  For the full hierarchy of consumption categories, please consult the catalog.  Use of the old mnemonics will elicit a "series not found" error, so please amend your baskets and other automatic retrievals. The basket editor has a "find and replace" tool for this purpose.

The mnemonic of the headline CPI series, CPITTUM.IFRA, is unchanged.
