Data Note: Canada - GDP(E) - Metadata - Partial
Thursday, 06 Dec 2018 10:02 ET
By Keith Golden
Summary
December 2018 -- For a subset of our quarterly national accounts extract for Canada, we have corrected the unit-descriptor metadata to correctly indicate the scale and currency reference year (56 quarterly series impacted).
Detail

1. For two series, the scale was incorrect.

  • Before: Unitary
  • After: Millions (Mil.)

The series reside in the historical catalog (Canada » National Accounts » by Expenditure » Reference 2012 » Quarterly » Current prices - Key series) and are:

  • NALENEXAQ.ICAN = National accounts: Expenditure approach - Net Exports, (Mil. CAD, SAAR)
  • NACENEXAQ.ICAN = National accounts: Expenditure approach - Net Exports, (Mil. Ch. 2012 CAD, SAAR)

2. For 54 series, the currency reference year was incorrect. The source advances the currency reference year every five years.

  • Before: Mil. Ch. 2002 CAD
  • After: Mil. Ch. 2007 CAD

The series reside in the historical catalog (Canada » National Accounts » by Expenditure » Reference 2007 » Quarterly [DISCONTINUED] » Household consumption expenditure » Constant prices) and include, for example:

  • NACEHCEEDU_07AQ.ICAN  = [DISCONTINUED] National accounts: Household final consumption expenditure - Education [C21], (Mil. Ch. 2007 CAD, SAAR)
  • NACEHCEHOSP_07AQ.ICAN = [DISCONTINUED] National accounts: Household final consumption expenditure - Hospital services [C163], (Mil. Ch. 2007 CAD, SAAR)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
