New Data: Philippines - GDP(O)
Thursday, 07 Mar 2019 10:56 ET
By Victoria Donu
Summary
March 2019 -- Moody's Analytics now carries total GDP (production approach), at current and constant prices, for the Philippines (two new quarterly series from 1981).
Detail

Dataset properties:

  • Framework: PSNA (Philippines System of National Accounts), which generally follows UN SNA 2008
  • Measurement: Millions of current (Mil. PHP) or constant year-2000 Philippine pesos (Mil. 2000 PHP)
  • Adjustment: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA)
  • Native frequency: Quarterly
  • Start date: 1998Q1

The series reside in the historical catalog (Philippines » National Accounts » By value add » Quarterly) and are:

  • NALSGDPUQ.IPHL = National accounts: Production approach - GDP, (Mil. PHP, NSA)
  • NACSGDPUQ.IPHL = GDP, (Mil. 2000 PHP, NSA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

Please be aware that

The production (or output) approach to GDP is usually called "gross value added" but this presentation omits a distinct "taxes less subsidies" adjustment item. Instead, each industry is valued as "gross domestic product", and we represent them as such in their description metadata and concept code.

By the same token, "GDP (production approach)" is the sum of the industries; there is no intermediate "gross value added for all industries".

As to be expected, GDP(E) and GDP(O) are equal, that is:

  • NALEGDPUQ.IPHL = NALSGDPUQ.IPHL
  • NACEGDPUQ.IPHL = NACSGDPUQ.IPHL
