The source has changed the valuation method used to report the international investment position. As a result, concurrent with dissemination of results for 2017, their unique database identifiers have changed (since they contain a segment that represents valuation). In a direct communication, the source explained:

The difference between these series comes from dimension "Valuation" where "_X" replaced "V". This change to the valuation methodology reflects a move away from using the book value of all assets, and a move towards a "mixed valuation" which is the combination of market value for listed assets and book value for unlisted assets.

In response, we have:

1. Archived the predecessors (2006 to 2017) by marking metadata as [DISCONTINUED] and by segregating in the catalog.
2. Created one-for-one replacements, with an unchanged start date.

The active series reside in the historical catalog (France » Trade » International Investment Position » BPM6 » Active) and predecessors under the associated "discontinued" node. They are (old » new):
