Data Change: Argentina - IPI - Source
Monday, 15 Jul 2019 15:42 ET
By Jay Lynch
Summary
July 2019 -- For the headline indexes of industrial production for Argentina, Data Buffet now carries the official series (two monthly series 1994 to 2019, replaced from 1994).
Detail

In January 2017, the source changed the analytic form of its industrial production measures from index (base period 2012) to percent change. In April 2017, for international consistency, we created an index (base 2012) for the all-items headline, in NSA and SA forms. We recently discovered that the source has resumed reporting the headline as an index, but with base 2004 (which hasn't otherwise been used since 2010) and with limited history.

In response, we have:

  1. Archived our supplements (base 2012, 1994m1 to 2019m1) by renaming with an "_12" specifier, marking the metadata as "discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
  2. Replaced them using the as-reported series (base 2004, from 2016m1).
  3. Extended both series over the interval 1994m1 to 2015m12.

The series reside in the historical catalog (Argentina » Industry » Industrial production) and are:

  • RIPITT_12UM.IARG = [DISCONTINUED] Industrial production: Total, (Index 2012=100, NSA)
  • RIPITT_12AM.IARG = [DISCONTINUED] Total, (Index 2012=100, SA)
  • IPITTUM.IARG     = Total, (Index 2004=100, NSA)
  • IPITTAM.IARG     = Total, (Index 2004=100, SA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
