Data Change: Bosnia and Herzegovina - EER - Redefined
Monday, 02 Jul 2018 11:20 ET
By Phillip Thorne
Summary
July 2018 -- For the effective exchange rate indexes, the methodology has been changed by the source (two annual series 2005 to 2016, replaced from 2006).
Detail

In the annual report, the source wrote (citation):

T39: Nominal and Real Effective Exchange Rate of Convertible Mark
The Methodology for the calculation of NEER and REER has been changed and adjusted to the ECB methodology. All the data have been accordingly revised.
Detailed methodological explanations for compiling and calculating the nominal (NEER) and real (REER) effective exchange rate are available at the CBBH website http://www.cbbh.ba/content/read/1109?lang=en

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (2005 to 2016) by renaming with an "_16" specifier, by marking metadata as "discontinued", and by segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created one-for-one replacements; they start at 2006 but properties are otherwise unchanged.

The series reside in the historical catalog (Bosnia and Herzegovina » Financial » Effective exchange rate index) and are:

  • EXINEER_16UA.IBIH = [DISCONTINUED] Exchange rates: Nominal effective exchange rate [NEER], (Index 2010=100)
  • EXINEERUA.IBIH    = Exchange rates: Nominal effective exchange rate [NEER], (Index 2010=100)
  • EXIREER_16UA.IBIH = [DISCONTINUED] Real effective exchange rate
  • EXIREERUA.IBIH    = Real effective exchange rate

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
