What is the motivation?
Recently Germany, in its ongoing municipal reorganizations, changed four areas from NUTS 2013 to NUTS 2016. The only changes are at the NUTS 3 level, where the number of areas has changed from 402 to 401.
NUTS, the Uniform Nomenclature for Territorial Statistics, is a statistical geographical classification that describes members of the European Union, candidate countries, and EFTA. NUTS is based upon national geographic classifications and is updated every three years to reflect changes enacted by each country. NUTS areas are used by Eurostat; national sources may use NUTS in addition to their own localizations. For convenience, Data Buffet uses the same geo codes for both situations.
We construct the Moody's Analytics Estimates to be consistent over time and to use the latest definitions. For the Moody's Analytics Subnational Estimates for Europe, for each country, we use the latest applicable NUTS vintage.
Which Moody's Analytics estimated releases for Germany were impacted?

- Labor force status (LFS)

What did and did not change among the estimates?
Concept codes... are unchanged.
The corpus of series... For estimates describing single areas, we have synchronized to the NUTS 2016 set of areas, that is, we have created new series for the new areas, and deleted all series for terminated NUTS 2013 areas. For metro areas, we have synchronized to the current Eurostat definitions, which are now based on NUTS 2016 (see link below), with the exception of the Göttingen metropolitan area (IDEU_MGOT). We include the NUTS 3 area IDEU_03159 instead of IDEU_03152, which was terminated.
- The terminated NUTS (2013) level 3 geo codes are: IDEU_03152 IDEU_03156
- The terminated NUTS (2010) metro area geo codes are: IDEU_MMAR IDEU_MPLA
Values in surviving series (that is, those using unchanged geo codes)... May have been revised because of revisions to historical data related to the geo change.
If you have legacy baskets... That use explicit geo codes, you will need to amend them. If they instead use the NUTS 3 geo wild card (IDEU_^^^^^), the new series will automatically be retrieved upon next execution.
Start dates... Within a release, are unchanged; that is, the new series have the same length of history as surviving series. Across the eight impacted releases, start dates vary.
