Thursday, 20 Feb 2020 10:08 ET
By Sebastiano Mastrodonato
Summary
February 2020 -- For consumer price index for Nigeria, we have extended the reported series and created a seasonally adjusted counterpart (one new monthly series from 1960).
Detail

Motivation: Our pertinent national source, the National Bureau of Statistics of Nigeria, reports a monthly consumer price index, but only from 2006 and only in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms.

Response: For analytical convenience we extended the series by 47 years using IMF data, then created a seasonally adjusted counterpart.

Properties: Expect our SA series to be revised with each update to the NSA fundamental. Augmented and supplemental series of this kind are identified by secondary source citations of "Moody's Analytics Calculated" and "Moody's Analytics Adjusted", respectively

  • Measurement: Fixed-base index relative to November 2009 (Index Nov2009=100)
  • Adjustment: Seasonally adjusted (SA)
  • Native frequency: Monthly
  • Start date: 1960m1

The series resides in the historical catalog:

and is:

  • CPITTAM.INGA = Consumer price index: General index, (Index Nov2009=100, SA)
