Thursday, 07 Nov 2019 07:40 ET
By Ryan Kelly
October 2019 -- For the detailed producer price index for Mexico, concurrent with dissemination of results for August, it has been reclassified and the base period advanced from 2012 to 2019 (192 monthly series 1981 to 2019, replaced by 192 from 1981).

The source wrote (citation) (machine translation):

This Change of Base Year (CAB) in 2019 was made in accordance with the recommendations of good international practices and the Guidelines for the cycle of updating the economic information generated by the General Directorate of Economic Statistics.

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (SCIAN 2007, Jun2012=100) by renaming with an "_12" specifier, marking metadata as "discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created the replacements (SCIAN 2013, Jul2019=100).
  3. Synchronized our two SA supplements.
  4. Transplanted the global concept alias.

Notable properties:

  • Classification: From SCIAN 2007 to SCIAN 2013
  • Index base period: From June 2012 to July 2019
  • Start date: Unchanged

The series reside in the historical catalog:

  • Mexico » Price » Producer price index » 2019=100
  • Mexico » Price » Producer price index » Discontinued » 2012=100
