Business Statistics Section at the SOSR decided to revise methodology in the section manufacture of transport equipment, which is one of the 13 special aggregates of the industrial branches.
Current calculation of industrial production index within car manufacture is realized from expression of values, i.e. values in euro, compared with previous methodology based on natural units, i.e. number of pieces of produced cars. The reason of this change is to collect more exactly the real statement of car manufacture in the SR, which the portfolio of produced cars towards car manufacture with higher added value of cars, i.e. cars with and higher engine capacity. Because the manufacture of transport equipment, especially cars, is an important item of industrial production of the SR, also of GDP in the country, also compliance between methodology and economic reality in the sector is monitored in detail.
For the first time, new methodology was taken into consideration in results of industrial production in the month November 2018 (published 10th January 2019). Revision of data since 2008, which related mostly subsector manufacture of transport equipment and also to al cumulative data, to which this item is entering (manufacturing, industry as a whole), was also realized. 10th January 2019 it came to adjustment/revision of data in all types of outputs within industrial production.
In response, we have:
- Archived the predecessors by renaming with an "_18" specifier, marking the metadata as "discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
- Created one-for-one replacements.
- Extended the NSA total industry series using its predecessor.
- Replaced the SA supplement for total industry.
As-reported dataset properties:
- Classification: SK NACE (based on NACE Rev. 2) with scope of B to E
- Measurement: Fixed-base index (Index 2015=100)
- Adjustments: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA) or working day adjusted (WDA)
- Native frequency: Monthly
- Start date: January 2008
- Subject to revisions: Yes
The active series reside in the historical catalog (Slovak Republic » Industry » Industrial production index » 2015=100, from 2008) and the predecessors under the associated discontinued node (2015=100, old method, 2008 to 2018) and include, for example:
- IPITTWM.ISVK = Industrial Production Index: All industries [05 to 39], (Index 2015=100, WDA)
- IPIMF_18AM.ISVK = [DISCONTINUD] Manufacturing [10 to 33], (Index 2015=100, SA)
- IPIMFUM.ISVK = Manufacturing [10 to 33], (Index 2015=100, NSA)
- IPIMFL_18WM.ISVK = [DISCONTINUED] Manufacture of transport equipment [29 to 30], (Index 2015=100, NSA)
- IPIMFLUM.ISVK = Manufacture of transport equipment [29 to 30], (Index 2015=100, NSA)
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Please be aware that
This source defines "industry" as the activity aggregate B to E. Some countries in Europe include "construction [F]".
By definition, industrial production is a volume measure (i.e., adjusted for price changes), but these series use our concept code and unit-descriptor generic index symbology.
Moody's Analytics creates a seasonally adjusted counterpart (supplement) for total production, which we have synchronized.
- IPITT_18AM.ISVK = [DISCONTINUED] All industries [05 to 39], (Index 2015=100, SA)
- IPITTAM.ISVK = All industries [05 to 39], (Index 2015=100, SA)
