New Data: Philippines - GDP by industry - Addendum
Tuesday, 19 Feb 2019 18:06 ET
By Jacky Cheung
Summary
February 2019 -- For gross value added by industry for the Philippines, Data Buffet now carries 12 individual industries; previously, it carried only the three-sector breakdown (24 new quarterly series from 1998).
Detail

Dataset properties:

  • Framework: PSNA (Philippines System of National Accounts), which generally follows UN SNA 2008
  • Classification: Not indicated, but matches PSIC 1994, the local adaptation of UN ISIC Rev. 3
  • Measurement: Millions of current (Mil. PHP) or constant year-2000 Philippine pesos (Mil. 2000 PHP)
  • Adjustment: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA)
  • Native frequency: Quarterly
  • Start date: 1998Q1

The series reside in the historical catalog (National Accounts » By Value Add » Quarterly) and include, for example:

  • NACSGDPAGUQ.IPHL    = National accounts: Production approach - GDP - Agriculture and forestry, (Mil. 2000 PHP, NSA)
  • NACSGDPPAUQ.IPHL    = Public administration and defense; compulsory social security, (Mil. 2000 PHP, NSA)
  • NALSGDPSVNECUQ.IPHL = Other services, (Mil. PHP, NSA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.

Please be aware that

The output approach to GDP is usually called "gross value added" but these series are reported without a separate "taxes less subsidies" adjustment item. As such, they are valued as "gross domestic product", and we represent them as such in the description metadata and concept code.
