Data Change: Argentina - CPI - Rebased
Friday, 14 Feb 2014 16:44 ET
By Skylar Bowman
February 2014 -- The source has redefined and rebased the consumer price index by goods from April 2008 to 2013Q4 (12 monthly series 1943-2013, replaced by 11 from 2013).

The predecessor CPI series covered only Greater Buenos Aires, while the replacement CPI series covers urban areas throughout the nation. In response, we have archived the predecessor dataset (April 2008=100) by renaming the series with a "_08" specifier and marking them as "discontinued." The predecessor series run from January 1943 to December 2013. The replacements (2013Q4=100) start at December 2013.

Additionally, Moody's Analytics has extended the history for both not seasonally adjusted (NSA) and seasonally adjusted (SA) total CPI series.

The dataset resides in the historical catalog (Argentina » Price » Consumer Price Index) and includes, for example:

  • CPITT_08UM.IARG = [DISCONTINUED] - Greater Buenos Aires - Total, (April 2008=100, NSA)
  • CPITTUM.IARG = National Urban - Total, (2013Q4=100, NSA)
  • CPITTAM.IARG = National Urban - Total, (2013Q4=100, SA)
  • CPIFPBUM.IARG = National Urban - Food and beverages, (2013Q4=100, NSA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com, provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
