Estimates Revision: Spain subnational - Population by age
Thursday, 11 Jan 2018 14:22 ET
By Richard Grim
Summary
January 2017 -- Because the source population data have recently been redefined, we have revised our estimates of population by age for subnational areas in Spain (412 quarterly series revised from 1970).
Detail

Motivation: In July, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) redefined the uppermost brackets for subnational population for Spain (see related article).

Response: Other than as described below, properties are unchanged (see related article).

  • Revision to all existing periods, i.e., from 1970Q4
  • Extension from 1990Q4 to 1970Q4 for select series

The estimates reside in the Data Buffet historical catalog (Spain » Demographics » Population » Quarterly (Moody's Analytics Estimated)) and include, for example:

  • RPOP0014Q.IESP_CANA = Population - Ages 0 to 14, (Ths. #, SA) - for NUTS 1 Canarias
  • RPOP65GQ.IESP_CN    = Ages 65 and older - for NUTS 2 Cantabria
  • RPOPQ.IESP_CAS      = All ages - for NUTS 3 Castellón de la Plana

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
