New Data: Denmark - Labor Force and Unemployment Rate
Wednesday, 11 Jan 2012 08:42 ET
By Megan Perkinson
Summary
January 2012 -- To supplement the reported headline LFS indicators, Moody's Analytics now computes the labor force and unemployment rate for Denmark (two quarterly series from 1996).
Detail

Why: Our Danish national source reports, from the quarterly Labor Force Survey, only the number of unemployed and employed.

What: For international consistency, Moody's Analytics has calculated the labor force and unemployment rate, per the International Labor Organization (ILO) definition.

Properties: All four time series start at 1996Q1 and are seasonally adjusted (SA).

How: We used these standard identities:

  • Labor force = Unemployment + Employment
  • Unemployment Rate = (Unemployment / Labor Force) * 100
Mnemonic Description Method
