Data Change: U.S. - FRB G.17 capital expenditure - Re-referenced to 2012
Tuesday, 30 Jul 2019 16:58 ET
By Megan Hilaman
Summary
July 2019 -- For the capital expenditure portion of the "Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization (G.17)" statistical release, concurrent with dissemination of results for May, the source advanced the currency reference year from 2009 to 2012 (522 annual series 1972 to 2016, replaced by 522 from 1972).
Detail

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (2009 prices, 1972 to 2016) by renaming with an "_09" specifier, marking metadata as "discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created one-for-one replacements (2012 prices), which have an unchanged start date.

Subset properties:

  • Industry classification: NAICS 2012
  • Measurement: Millions of U.S. dollars at current prices (Mil. USD) or at chained year-2012 prices (Mil. Ch. 2012 USD)
  • Adjustment: Not applicable
  • Native frequency: Annual
  • Start date: 1972

The active series reside in the historical catalog (United States » Industry » Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization (FRB G.17) - NAICS 2012 »  Annual » Capital expenditure) and the predecessors under the associated "discontinued" node. They include, for example:

  • CECFRINVEMF_09UA.IUSA = [DISCONTINUED] Capital expenditure: Investment equipment - Manufacturing - All industries, (Mil. 2009 USD)
  • CECFRINVEMFUA.IUSA    = Capital expenditure: Investment equipment - Manufacturing - All industries, (Mil. 2012 USD)
  • CECFRSTKE3119UA.IUSA  = Capital expenditure: Capital stock equipment - Manufacturing - Other food [3119], (Mil. 2012 USD)
  • CECFRSTKW3343UA.IUSA  = Capital expenditure: Capital stock software - Manufacturing - Audio and video equipment [3343], (Mil. 2012 USD)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
