Data Change: Austria - Wage index - Rebased to 2016
Wednesday, 11 Sep 2019 10:40 ET
By Kylie Myers
Summary
September 2019 -- For the detailed standard wage index for Austria, concurrent with dissemination of results for April, the source has advanced the base year from 2006 to 2016 (292 monthly series 2017 to 2019, replaced by 295 from 2017).
Detail

On 14 August, the source wrote (citation):

Seit dem Berichtsmonat April 2019 wird der Tariflohnindex 06 durch den Tariflohnindex 16 (Basis 2016=100) ersetzt.

That is:

Since the reference month April 2019, the tariff wage index 06 has been replaced by tariff wage index 16 (basis 2016=100).

In response, we have:

  1. Archived the predecessors (2006=100, 2017m1 to 2019m3) by renaming with an "_06" specifier, by marking metadata as "discontinued", and by segregating in the catalog.
  2. Created replacements (2016=100, from 2017m1).
  3. Refurbished the catalog.

Active dataset properties:

  • Industry classification: ÖNACE 2008, the local adaptation of NACE Rev. 2
  • Measurement: Fixed-base value index relative to 2016 (Index 2016=100)
  • Adjustment: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA)
  • Native frequency: Monthly
  • Start date: 2017m1

The active series reside in the historical catalog (Austria » Labor and Wages » Earnings » Wage indexes » 2016=100) and the predecessors under the associated "discontinued" nodes. They include, for example:

  • LWIWGSTO_06UM.IAUT = [DISCONTINUED] Salaried employees: Tourism and Leisure, (2006=100, NSA)
  • LWIWGTSE_06UM.IAUT = [DISCONTINUED] Transportation and Storage - Wage Earners, (2006=100, NSA)
  • LWIWGAFUM.IAUT     = Wage earners: Agriculture, fishing and forestry [A], (Index 2016=100, NSA)
  • LWIWGSEDUM.IAUT    = Salaried employee: Education [P], (Index 2016=100, NSA)

Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
