Geographic background

Geo levels in Norway:

INOR_aa = Group of counties (NUTS 1-analog)
INOR_aaa = County (NUTS 2-analog)
INOR_nnnn = Municipality (LAU 2-analog)

Municipalities in Norway are subject to annual redefinition (most often mergers between adjacent areas). Counties also undergo changes, but less often.

Geo change: Norway subnational - 2017 and 2018

Standard responses

A change in classification, geographic or otherwise, will impact all reported datasets (and hence all republished Data Buffet extracts) that use said classification. The purpose of this article is to centralize and summarize our response, rather than repeat shared information across individual articles for each data release.

Our standard response entails these steps:

Post a "geo change" article to Data Buffet news that lists the predecessor and replacement geo codes.
Archive the series that use the terminated geos, by marking metadata as "discontinued".
Add the series using the replacement geos ...
... Or, if they have not yet been published, prepare to do so. Unless otherwise noted, we anticipate that data using the new geos will be disseminated in conjunction with reference 2018; the advance calendar for each release is in Mnemonic 411.
Make no change to concept codes.
Make no change to the catalog tree (which is organized by concept code).

Your response may entail:

If you have a retrieval (basket or otherwise) that enumerates specific geos, recompile to utilize the replacement geo codes.
If your retrieval uses a geo wild card expression, expect that the result corpus will be different when next executed.
