Motivation: Our national source, Statistics Korea, reports population under three programs with different combinations of properties:
- Annual, estimate, by total population, all persons reside in Korea.
- Annual, projection, by broad age bracket (0 to 14, 15 to 64 and 65 and older), all persons resident in Korea.
- Five-year, census, by four-year age bracket, Korean nationals resident in Korea.
Response: For international consistency, Moody's Analytics estimates quarterly population by broad age brackets (total, ages 0 to 14, 15 to 64, 65 and older), for Korean residents of any nationality.
Properties
- Measurement: Thousands of individuals (Ths. #), seasonally adjusted (SA)
- Frequency: Quarterly
- Start date:
- National total: 1970Q1
- Subnational total and age cohorts: 1970Q3
- Geo coverage: Country and Seoul City
The series reside in the historical catalog (South Korea » Demographics » Population » Moody's Analytics Estimated) and include, for example:
- RPOPQ.IKOR_SE = Population - Total, (Ths. #, SA) - for Seoul city
- RPOP0014Q.IKOR = Ages 0-14
- RPOP1564Q.IKOR_SE = Ages 15-64 - for Seoul city
- RPOP65GQ.IKOR = Ages 65 and older
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Method: Please see the background documentation in Mnemonic 411.
