Technical note
With the publication of the results for the 1st quarter of 2019, Statistics Portugal starts the dissemination of a new series of the Labour Cost Index (LCI), with the base year in 2016, in line with Eurostat’s procedure for the Labour Cost Index, whenever new data of the (quadrennial) Labour Cost Survey become available.
[...] The observation unit changed from local unit to enterprise, and the dissemination of NUTS II regional data was discontinued.
In response, we have:
- Terminated the "all industries excl. public administration" concept, which is the only concept with subnational coverage (nine series).
- Archived the remaining 23 predecessor series (2008=100, 2008Q1 to 2018Q4) by renaming with an "_08" specifier, marking metadata as "discontinued", and segregating in the catalog.
- Created 23 one-for-one replacements (2016=100), which have an unchanged start date.
Active dataset properties:
- Classification: NACE Rev. 2
- Measurement: Fixed-based index relative to 2016 (Index 2016=100)
- Adjustment: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA)
- Geo coverage: Country
- Native frequency: Quarterly
- Start date: 2008Q1
The active series reside in the historical catalog (Portugal » Labor and Wages » Labor cost index » 2016=100) and the predecessors under the associated "Discontinued" node. They include, for example:
- LWILCNAGXG_08UQ.IPRT_NO = [DISCONTINUED] Labor and Wages: Labor Cost Index - Total excluding public administration [B-S excl. 84], (Index 2008=100, NSA) - for Norte
- LWILCPS_08UQ.IPRT = [DISCONTINUED] Professional; scientific and technical activities [M], (Index 2008=100, NSA)
- LWILCPSUQ.IPRT = Ibid, (Index 2016=100, NSA)
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
