22 January 2018 -- The partial shutdown of the U.S. federal government may interrupt the statistical functions of agencies that supply Data Buffet. [Updated 24 January 2018.]

Due to a lapse in appropriates, Federal government operations vary by agency. Employees should refer to their home agency for guidance on reporting for duty.

This kind of large-scale interruption last happened in 2013 (see related article). We are monitoring three cases, as follows. Please check this article and calendar notes attached to individual release calendars. UPDATE: Due to the enactment of a continuing resolution late on January 22, federal government operations have resumed. Some of the following notices have not yet been removed.

Bureau of Economic Analysis (Department of Commerce) (citation):

This website is currently not being updated due to the suspension of Federal government services. The last update to the site was Friday, January 19. Updates to the site will start again when the Federal government resumes operations.

The Department has initiated its shutdown plan for continuing operations as a lapse in annual appropriations has occurred. All DOT, including FAA, safety operations continue to function with no impact to safety or safety oversight for the traveling public.

Energy Information Administration (EIA) (citation):

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) will be able to operate for a short period of time during the lapse in appropriations. Until further notice, the EIA.gov website will continue to be updated, and publications will continue to be released according to established schedules.

National Travel & Tourism Office (Department of Commerce) (citation):

Due to a lapse in federal funding, Travel.Trade.Gov sites, are not being updated.

Judiciary Open During Government Shutdown

Despite a government shutdown, the federal Judiciary will remain open and can continue operations for approximately three weeks, through February 9, by using court fee balances and other funds not dependent on a new appropriation.
