Moody’s Analytics, located in West Chester PA, is a leading independent provider of credit risk management and economic data, analysis, and forecasting services, designed to meet the diverse planning and information needs of businesses, governments, and professional investors worldwide. As an Associate Project Coordinator you will contribute to client projects and web site content publishing, and assist internal staff on various tasks. The knowledge and experience gained in this role will help with future development within Moody’s Analytics.

Qualifications

The position requires a motivated, responsible individual with a BA or BS degree and coursework in economics, finance, statistics, or related fields, as well as an excellent academic record and strong proficiency in computer use. The appropriate candidate must be able to work collaboratively and independently, and be adept at problem solving and developing effective work plans. Organization and attention to detail are key. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Because this position involves extensive team and potential client contact, strong interpersonal skills are necessary.

Associate Quantitative Engineer

Description

Moody’s Analytics Economics Division, located in West Chester, PA, is a leading independent provider of economic, financial, country, and industry research designed to meet the diverse planning and information needs of businesses, governments, and professional investors worldwide. The successful candidate would work with a new and expanding group that designs, implements, and operates algorithms to produce unique client-facing data sets and uses quantitative techniques to drive significant internal productivity and quality improvements. You would be responsible for developing, implementing, testing, and operating applications and processes that produce and evaluate data and models. This is a highly collaborative position, requiring frequent interaction with a variety of teams across the line of business. Key details of the successful candidate’s responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing quantitative products and product enhancements, for example:

     1. Systems design, analysis and evaluation 

     2. Data estimation and imputing

     3. High-throughput numerical quality assessment 

     4.  Econometric forecasting

  • Identifying opportunities and executing programmatic solutions to significantly improve productivity
  • Assessing and improving the interfaces by which external and internal clients interact with the group's data and models
  • Utilizing analytical skills for interpreting business functions, understanding functional requirements, and researching and resolving system problems
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of standards and best practices

 

Qualifications

Minimum education and work experience required for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Industrial engineering, or a relevant quantitative field; 0-2 years of relevant work experience; and work experience or coursework involving programming: C#, Python, R, STATA, Matlab or related programs. Other useful experience, but not required, include large-scale data analysis and computing, Hadoop, quantitative finance and valuation, or econometric forecasting.

Description

Moody’s Analytics Economics Division, located in West Chester, PA, is a leading independent provider of economic, financial, country, and industry research designed to meet the diverse planning and information needs of businesses, governments, and professional investors worldwide. Responsibilities for the Economist—Financial Economics position include forecasting and analysis of macroeconomic topics, with an emphasis on financial and market risk instruments for the U.S. and global economy. Writing analysis pieces that may include real-time analysis and additional commentary for our live website, near-term analysis and additional commentary for our live website, near-term analysis for monthly subscription products, and longer-term analysis for special projects and consulting.  The person in this position will manage, construct and update models that produce forecasts for financial variables such as yield and swap rate curves, CDS and corporate bond spreads, equity returns and volatilities, muni bond yields, and ABS yields. The Financial Economist will present to clients, establish a close working relationship with clients, participate in the design and execution of consulting projects for the financial services industry, and develop new products for the industry. The Financial Economist will supervise one or more Economists and/or Associate Economists, and will provide training broadly across the entire group of economists in the Economics Division.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Economics or Finance with asset pricing or financial econometrics as the core specialization. Relevant experience in the field is desirable. Time-series analysis, simulation methods and forecasting of high-frequency market risk instruments. Knowledge of stochastic analysis (asset pricing theory) and dynamic optimization methods (such as DSGE). Strong Matlab or R coding would be advantageous. Excellent academic record; excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills.
