Description

Moody’s Analytics Economics Division, located in West Chester, PA, is a leading independent provider of economic, financial, country, and industry research designed to meet the diverse planning and information needs of businesses, governments, and professional investors worldwide. You would be responsible for in-depth research and forecasting for state and metropolitan economies and international economies; producing written analysis for our regional and international publications; and responding to client requests and inquiries. The work requires general spreadsheet analysis, in depth computer programming for data transformation and estimation, collecting and interpreting data for clients, working with the senior staff on larger research and consulting projects, and contributing to our live commentary website.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Economics relevant experience preferred in economic forecasting and consulting.  Excellent academic record, writing skills, and a strong proficiency in the use of computers and statistical/econometric software.  A successful applicant with a recent bachelor’s degree would be placed as an entry level Associate Economist 1. An applicant with two-years of post-graduate experience and/or a Master’s degree would be placed as an Associate Economist 2. The position requires a motivated, responsible person who can work well with others and independently of daily supervision and produce near copy-ready quality reports.  Strong interpersonal skills are a must as Associate Economists will work directly with clients to produce scheduled customized products as well as to share their insights on the areas they will cover.

You would be responsible fordeveloping econometric forecasting models for consumer credit portfolios under a variety of economic scenarios; deploying econometric models in a web-based platform; testing and quality assurance of deployed models; client training; and responding to client requests and inquiries. The work requires programming and data management skills along with econometric knowledge. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior staff on consulting projects and will be involved in the development, deployment and testing of models in a proprietary loss forecasting and stress testing solution.

Qualifications

Description

Moody’s Analytics Credit Analytics Division, located in West Chester, PA, is a leading independent provider of consumer credit research and consulting designed to meet the diverse needs of businesses, banks, credit unions, other lenders worldwide. You would be responsible for credit modeling, including data analysis and the development, implementation, and validation of probability of default (PD), loss given default (LGD), and exposure at default (EAD) models using state-of-the-art statistical and econometric techniques. Emphasis is on consumer credit but with some exposure to corporate and other forms of risk modeling in partnership with sister departments within Moody's Analytics. You would also be responsible for other forecasting and simulation exercises, with emphasis on stress testing under alternative scenarios and IFRS9 and CECL; contract consulting work with major financial institutions and other industry players worldwide. The successful applicant would be involved in data analysis, model development, estimation and validation, final reports and documentation writing; meeting with clients to discuss current projects; making presentations; and general client service, including serving as part of a team to meet client needs for credit modeling issues.  

Qualifications

 The ideal candidate would have a Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, Economics or other closely related field. At least 2 years of industry experience in quantitative risk modeling and/or loss forecasting and/or data science is preferred. Candidates with strong analytical backgrounds and programming skills in R, Stata, SAS, Python will be preferred. Ability to communicate technical subject matter clearly and concisely to individuals from various backgrounds is a plus. Excellent presentation, writing, time management and interpersonal skills are required.

The Quantitative Services Group is the fast-growing, hands-on development and operations team responsible for algorithmic analytics, data management and process improvement. The group designs, implements, and operates algorithms to produce unique client facing data sets. The team also engineers tools and processes to achieve leaps forward in productivity and quality.  

The Senior Quantitative Engineer fulfils a crucial role in the development and operation of data products, production processes, and infrastructure within the Quantitative Research Group. She/He will contribute substantially in defining, designing, and implementing advanced data analytics, algorithms, and processing techniques to supply clients with distinctive, high-quality data efficiently. She/He will be expected to be a thought leader within the line of business on data analytics and processing. In that capacity, she/he will collaborate across teams to and levels of the organization.
