Release Information

Index of industrial production is a measure of change in the volume of production for all establishments in manufacturing industries and swerage, waste management and remediation in Hong Kong. Quarterly from 2005.

Compilation follows the UN Statistics Division International Recommendations for the Index of Industrial Production 2009.

The index uses a chained Laspeyeres formula. Weighting is by deflated sales value and value-added of each industry.

Establishments are classified according to the Hong Kong Standard Industrial Classification Version 2.0 (HSIC V2.0).

Industrial coverage: All local establishments in manufacturing industries and sewerage, waste managemnt and remediation activities.

Product coverage: Only primary products of establishments are covered.

Revision of provisional figures is due to the availablity of more data for index compilation. The discrepancy between the provisional figures and revised figures is generally small.
