An index of the quantities of production in mining, manufacturing, electricity, water, and construction in Taiwan, R.O.C. Monthly from 1996, and from 1968 for detailed manufacturing.
Data are disseminated on the Production Index, a Laspeyres index (2006=100) which covers the manufacturing, mining and quarrying, electricity and gas supply, water supply, and buildings construction industries.
The data are obtained primarily from the Current Production Statistics Survey which covers approximately 2,500 commodities surveyed each month at establishments and companies in the mining and manufacturing sectors
The index uses production weighted by unit net value of selected products.
Value-added values are obtained from the Factory Registration Update Survey conducted in 2005.
The dataset is categorized using the 2011 edition of the "Classification of Industrial Products," published by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, with major divisions and major sectors.
Movement of manufacturing production index = (The ratio of firms that expect increasing next month + The ratio of firms that expect unbiased next month × 0.5)×100
Preliminary data are released on the 23st day of each month.
The index is re-based and the weights are revised every five years.
