The SIX Financial Information dataset contains commodity prices, spot and futures commodity prices, exchange rates, interest rates, benchmark indexes for many stock exchanges, and broad market indexes from S&P/Citigroup.
The price updated is the valuation price, defined as the price of the most recent trading day and calculated according to a set of rules defined for each marketplace. This logic varies by exchange but is usually: Use last price, else bid price, else ask price.
If available, the daily open, high and low price are also reported (i.e., the full OHLC quartet, as used in candlestick charts).
The majority of the indexes are reported daily, but a minority are available only at a weekly frequency.
SIX Financial Information distributes its time series at a daily frequency, which Data Buffet does not republish. Instead, Moody's Analytics constructs supplements at lower frequencies (viz., weekly, monthly and quarterly) and alternative compaction methods (viz., end of period and average over period). Each indicator is typically published with daily open, low, high and close statistics. Therefore, there are potentially 24 variants for each indicator, such as "daily open, average over period, week" or "daily high, end of period, quarter."
For the Cboe VIX® daily close, we construct the compaction "maximum over period" at monthly and quarterly frequencies.
Generally no.
March 26, 2013 - Moody's Analytics changed the description on the Egyptian equity indices. The Egyptian Exchange was formerly known as the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange (CASE). In 2009, the CASE 30 Index (comprising the 30 largest companies being traded) changed its name to the EGX 30 Index.
December 2017 - Data Buffet carries only weekly and monthly averages of the daily fundamentals.
The daily time series may lag by large and unpredictable amounts. For our lower-frequency supplements, we regularly synchronize our "discontinued" marker (the first segment of the "description" metadata field). Consequently, the series may fluctuate between discontinued and active depending on the lag of the daily fundamental.
