The National Institute of Statistics (INE) reports annual vital statistics for Uruguay. Vital Statistics represent the number of births and deaths that occurred in the country. Vital Statistics also document geographical location and demographic characteristics of the population. Vital statistics are used to monitor and evaluate public policies and predict demand for certain goods and services.
The projection of the national total is obtained by the sum of the Urban projection and Country projection. Those two are obtained by aggregation of areas corresponding to each department, to ensure full consistency with data relating to the population of each gender and age, mortality, fertility and internal and international migration.
Data is subject to revisions.
