Release Information
The quarterly producer price index for the industrial sector (PPI) is a measure of the change in the producer prices, of a fixed set of products of constant quantity and quality, at establishments in manufacturing industries and sewerage, waste management and remediation activities in Hong Kong.
Compilation closely follows the IMF Producer Price Index Manual 2004.
Establishments are classified according to the Hong Kong Standard Industrial Classification Version 2.0 (HSIC). The list of products is compiled based on the results of consultation with major producers and data users.
Industrial coverage: all local establishments in manufacturing industries and swerage, waste management and remediation activities.
Product coverage: only primary products of establishments are covered. A total of about 800 products are covered.
Geographic coverage: all production in Hong Kong is covered.
Revision of provisional figures is due to the availablity of more data for index compilation. The discrepancy between the provisional figures and revised figures is generally small.
