STATEC puts the production index together. The calculation of the the index uses a Laspeyres formula with fixed value-added weights, with 2021 as a base year. Units containing 20 or more individuals are included in the poplulation. Some exceptions are made for smaller units.
The data source is a monthly survey that measures the production of 160 local industrial activity units.
For the general index of industrial production, we back-extend (1955m1 to 2009m12) using predecessors, and construct a seasonally adjusted counterpart.
Data is first released during a preliminary stage and revisions are usually made in the first 20 days. Additional revisions can be made within three months of the release. Revisions are made to correct data errors or estimates.
