The following information is taken from The Official Statistics of Sweden.
Statistics on Sweden's population are reported annually. The Population Statistics are reported in two groupings:
The population statistics are reported where the inhabitants are registered. The main rule in the population register means that people are recorded in the assembly and on the property where it resides. A person is considered resident on the estate where he regularly resides.
Deaths are registered where the deceased was registered. Only persons who were registered at death are included in the statistics.
Birth indicates that a person is born. Birth country designation assigned to conditions at the time of birth. In live birth for neonates after birth breathes or shows other signs of life such as heartbeat, pulsation in the umbilical cord or clear, spontaneous movements of skeletal muscle.
To be registered as an immigrant you should have the intention to remain in Sweden for at least one year. Non-Nordic citizens are also usually required permit / residence.
To become registered as emigrants, one must have the intention to reside abroad for at least one year. Some exceptions to the one-year rule available, including if you emigrate to Denmark or Norway (6 months).
Net Migration rate with immigration surplus means the difference between the number of immigrants and the number of emigrants during the period. Immigration surplus can be positive or negative.
