Release Information

The data obtained can be used to compile the statistics of the Swiss population as well as those of the foreign resident population. The population is renewed by certain demographic movements (births, immigration, deaths and emigration).

Definition of the permanent living population - The permanent resident population includes all persons of Swiss nationality with principal residence in Switzerland as well as the foreign nationals who have a presence permit, have a minimum duration of 12 months or have been in business for at least twelve months in Switzerland. Short stay containers with L-ID and persons in the asylum process with an F or N card, who immigrated to Switzerland within a calendar year only become permanent residents after a stay of at least 12 months.
