Release Information

For Thailand, the Private Consumption Index is a composite index representing private consumption conditions. Monthly from 2000.

There are five main component indexes:

  • Non-durables - Nielsen’s fast moving consumer goods index, Household electricity consumption, Sales of fuel consumption
  • Semidurables - Retail sales of textile and clothing at constant price, Import of textile and clothing at constant price
  • Durables - Sales of Passenger cars, Motorcycles, Commercial cars
  • Services - VAT of hotel and restaurant at constant price, Sales of passenger transportations at constant price
  • Non-resident expenditure

Private consumption includes these eight items:

  • Electricity consumption
  • Quantity sale of benzene
  • Value-added tax at constant price
  • Import of consumer goods at constant price
  • Sales of beverage
  • Sales of vehicles
  • Insured persons and beneficiaries
  • Retail sales index


In 2015, the private consumption index and its components were rebased from 2000=100 to 2010=100.
