The source writes:

The objective of the Producer Price Index of National Products (IPPN) is to estimate the changes in prices of goods produced in the country that target internal market, in the first transaction level. The sectors covered are: Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting and Forestry, Fishing, Mining and Manufacturing Industries, Sections A, B, C and D  of International Standard Industrial Classification for all Economic Activities (ISIC Rev.3).

The methodology used to construct the index maintains the definitions and calculation defined in 2001. The methodology includes the definition of the following:

  • the set of goods and services for which you want to estimate the evolution of prices (statistical research unit).
  • the type of price taken to follow developments (price variable definition in the
    index).
  • mathematical formula of the used Indicator.
  • the source of basic information to construct this indicator.

Moody's Analytics supplements

For the general index, we back-extend to 1966 using IMF data. We construct a seasonally adjusted counterpart.

Revisions do not follow a regular schedule.

The method, index base year, basket and weightings are sometimes advanced, when resources are available or whenever deemed necessary.
