CBBH reports external (foreign) trade (imports and exports) for Bosnia and Herzegovina on a balance of payments (BOP) basis, and on a commodity basis by the 21 HS 2007 sections. Monthly from January 2003, with figures in the local currency (BAM).
The BH Balance of Payments is prepared in accordance with the IMF methodology (Balance of Payments Manual, 5th edition). The Special Trade System is used, in accordance with the Eurostat recommendations (Statistics on the Trading of Goods: User Guide, EC, Eurostat, November 200?).
Imports and exports by "tariff section" refer to the 21 sections of the WCO's HS 2007.
Imports undergo a timing adjustment, because customs vs. balance of payments statistics are based on the physical movement of goods vs. change of ownership, respectively, which do not necessarily occur simultaneously.
Imports undergo a classification adjustment to deduct freight and insurance (c.i.f.). Balance of payments statistics are "f.o.b." since freight and insurance are classed as an exchange of services rather than goods.
