External debt is a portion of a country's debt that is borrowed from foreign lenders. The Bank of the Republic of Colombia reports total external debt in millions of U.S. dollars not seasonally adjusted. External debt is further classified by the public and private sectors.
Types of financing include bank loans, commercial or supplier credit, debt securities, and leasing. Short-term liabilities for portfolio investments in Colombia are not included.
