For Czechia, monthly external merchandise trade detailed by SITC commodity group.
After the accession of the Czech Republic to the EU, external trade of the CR is the total of intra-Community trade (trade with EU Member States) and trade with non-EU countries.
External trade statistics are based on two systems of data collection: Intrastat, which measures movement of goods within the Community (receipt and dispatch of goods from/to Member States of the EU), and Extrastat, which measures trade with non-EU states (imports and exports of goods from/to non-EU countries).
Exports are value of goods that were dispatched abroad and crossed the state border for the purpose of being left abroad, permanently or temporarily. Total exports consist of dispatch to EU Member States and exports to non-EU countries.
Imports are value of goods that were received from abroad and crossed the state border for the purpose of being left in the Czech Republic, permanently or temporarily. Total imports consist of receipt from EU Member States and imports from non-EU countries.
As of 2020, English-language terminology was changed by the source. The terms "external trade, national concept of external trade, cross-border concept of external trade" were replaced by "international trade, international trade in goods (change in ownership), cross- border movements of goods."
