STATISTICAL PROCESSING

Approximately 7400 prices are collected from selected manufacturers and importers in Denmark. Of these, approx. 3800 price reports are used to calculate the Producer Price Index for Goods, approx. 3600 to calculate the Import Price Index for Goods and approx. 5900 price reports are used to calculate the Price Index for Domestic Supply of Goods. The prices are automatically validated in connection with the collection and unusually large price developments are subsequently checked manually. The validated price developments are then aggregated in a hierarchical system, where they are weighted according to their importance to the overall price indices.

ACCURACY AND RELIABILITY

The prices covered by the data collection for the index cover approximately 70 percent of the total turnover in the Danish economy. The weighting basis is based on the National Accounts' product balances, which cover the majority of trade in the first stage of trade within the delimitation of the statistics, and there is constant monitoring of the quality in the sample. The sample is not simply drawn at random, which is why no measure of the sample uncertainty is given.

Only final figures are published.

The producer and import price index for goods is not assessed to have an increased uncertainty as a result of COVID-19, as data collection and thus non-response have remained largely unchanged as a result of the crisis.
