Release Information

Data, in euro, cover general government (including central government, extra- budgetary funds, social security funds and local government). The data are generally presented on a cash basis. The fiscal year coincides with the calendar year.

Component detail comprises revenues and expenditure of general government, the general government balance, the trend of general government debt and financing by instrument.

Beyond measuring the difference between receipts and expenditure of central governmen, the general government balance measures the fiscal performance of all arms of goernment including local government and non-commercial state-sponsored bodies, as well extra budgetary funds including the social insuracne fund and the national pensions reserve fund. 

General government receipts and expenditure are calculated by the source in accordance with European standarrd statistical accounting rules. General government balance is based on the September EDP return. 

Data is provisional upon first release, final data is usually released the following year.
