The ESCB, which conducts monetary policy for the entire EMU, engages in open market operations and offers standing facilities for which it determines the respective policy variable interest rates. Data relative to these interest rates are disseminated by the European Central Bank (ECB).
New business interest rates and volumes are collected from credit financing institutions with significant household or non-financial corporation lending and deposits. The data is harmonised and used for the analysis of monetary developments and monitoring of financial stability. Monthly interest rates, broken down by interest rate type, cover all euro-dominated agreemetns with households and non-financial corporations.
Data is generally not subject to revision. There are however rare occasions where revisions will happen.
