The Consumer Price Index covers the entire country of Kuwait. The weights used to compile the Consumer Price Index are based on data from the Household Expenditure Survey. The basket contains about items representing eight major categories of household expenditure, according to COICOP. The weights for the major commodity groups in their order of importance are:

  • Housing: 26.7%
  • Transport and communication: 16.1%
  • Household goods and services: 14.7%
  • Clothing and footwear: 8.9%
