Release Information

Housing stock (expressed as square meters per capita) for Russia and subnational areas thereof. Annual from 1990.

The data provides information on the housing stock, i.e., the aggregate of all dwellings, situated on the territory of the Russian Federation as well as on individual territory basis. Dwellings are treated as any isolated premises which fall under real estate sector and are suitable for permanent living of citizens.

The housing stock does not include cottages, summer garden houses, sporting and tourist centers, motels, health resorts, hotels, barracks, railway carriages and other similar structures.

Housing stock per capita by regions is derived by dividing the total housing stock by the respective territory population.

The data are provided by Federal State Statistics Service, Russia. The total area of the dwellings (houses) is determined as a sum of the areas of the living rooms and including auxiliary premises and excluding balconies, terrace & other similar areas. Average area of the dwellings per capita is calculated by dividing the total area of the dwellings at the end of the year by the number of resident population at the end of the year.
