Release Information

The statistics on the Bulgarian Balance of Payments covers the entire range of activities of the Bulgarian economy with the rest of the world, except for:

  • Certain changes to the residents' accounts assets out of the country
  • Estimates made for shuttle trade.

The Bulgarian National Bank is responsible for the compilation of the balance of payments for the country. The statistics is processed by the "Balance of Payments and External Debt" Division within the BNB. 

Revisions to the preliminary data are mandatory international practice. When data revisions are made as a response to additional information being collected the BNB informs users through monthly press releases and in the notes at the end of data tables. When major data revisions are made as a result of changes to the methodology the BNB publishes the information in advance to inform users.
