Release Information

For Croatia, the Labor Force Survey results include working-age population, labor force, employed persons, unemployed persons, inactive population, activity rate, employment/population ratio, and the unemployment rate. The working-age range is 15 years or older. The portion of the population eligible for interviews is the population living in private households in the whole territory.

  • Measurement:
    • Thousands of persons (Ths. #)
    • Percentage (%)
  • Adjustment: Not seasonally adjusted (NSA)
  • Native frequency: Quarterly
  • Start date: Uniformly 2007Q1

Data are collected by conducting interviews on private households living at sampled addresses.

The Labour Force Survey is based on the random sample of private households. In the period from 1996 to 2006, the sample was separately defined for each period, that is, the sample did not have a panel component. Since 2007, such component has been introduced in the sample design and households are repeatedly interviewed four times.

Dynamics of the interviewing is the following: households are interviewed in two consecutive quarters, left out in the following two quarters and interviewed again in two consecutive quarters. In this way, it is possible to observe flows on the labour market through time in quarterly and annual dynamics.

In an average quarter, the sample consists of approximately 5,600 dwellings. All members of all private households permanently living in these dwellings are interviewed.

Data are collected continuously throughout the year, that is, every week in both the reference and interviewing week. Data are processed and published in quarterly dynamics. The data are available 12 weeks after the end of each quarter.

The LFS data are weighted and are not seasonally adjusted. In certain tables, the sum total may not equal the sum of individual figures due to the rounding to thousands.

Moody's Analytics supplements

We extend the LFS quartet over the interval 2002 to 2006, using Eurostat data. We compute seasonally adjusted counterparts, using the X-13ARIMA-SEATS program.

Generally, no.

Concurrent with release of 2016Q4 results, the source revised back to 2015Q1, by benchmarking to updated estimates of total population. We have inserted a "break in method" notation in all series.
