Release Information

The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) reports quarterly data on the country's balance of payments. The data set includes the current, capital, and financial account. Figures are in millions of euros (Mil. EUR) and are both seasonally adjusted (SA) and not seasonally adjusted (NSA) series.

In Hungary, the country’s balance of payments (BoP) and the statistics on the size of and changes in the stocks of its external financial assets and liabilities (international investment position, IIP) are compiled by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank. The balance of payments records transactions between residents,non-resident, natural, and legal persons. Transactions include stocks and flows of financial assets and liabilities.

Data are disseminated on the following:

  1. The current account, showing: exports and imports of goods and services; debits and credits for income, net figures for all aforementioned items, and net current transfers.
  2. The capital account and the financial accounts, showing: net capital transfers; direct investment; portfolio investment.

The international methodological standards for balance of payments statistics (Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual 6th Edition - BPM6).

At the time of quarterly publication data of the two preceding quarters are revised.
