[As of 2020] price data arecollected from 33 provincial capital cities and 111 other potential cities/towns, assumed to have major companies and traded varied goods. As of 2025 it is 38 provincial areas. As of 2025, a total of over 50,000 prices are collected each month.

Respondents are selected from companies considered representative enough on trading commodities, so that all commodities covered could represent the Wholesale Price for each province.

Price data are collected directly from respondents every month, by direct interview. That is, individual establishments, personal visits and a paper recording form.

[As of 2020] the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) is disaggregated into five commodity groups: Agriculture, Manufacturing, Mining and Quarrying, Imports and Exports, where each sector consists of subcommodity groups. The number of commodities in each group is presented in brackets. The total number of commodities is 257.

As of 2025, Compilation of Weighing Diagram Survey (SPDT) WPI Provincial 2023 is used.
