For Ireland, housing completions measures fully completed houses during the reference period for multiple counties and cities.
Data is based on new dwellings that are connected by ESB networks to the electricity supply and as such may not accord precisely with local authority boundaries. Work in progress construction is not counted, only new homes that are completed and available are counted.
Conversions of buildings into reidential units (about 400 of which occurs each year) are excluded from this data.
Local authority house completions do not include second-hand houses acquired by them. New units acquired under Part V, Planning and Development Acts 2000-2006 for local authority rental purposes are included.
