For Norway, the number of residential buildings by stage of construction (started, under construction, and completed) and their aggregate floor space. Monthly from 1992.
Statistics Norway performs a complete census of buildings at three levels (national, county and municipal) and three frequencies (annually, quarterly, and monthly). It is based on the Ground Parcel, Address and Building Register (GAB), a computer database in effect from late 1982.
Building stock includes all main buildings (not extensions) measuring larger than 15 m2 which have not been reported as destroyed. A single building may contain multiple dwelling units.
The type of building is established according to function. Combined buildings are classified by the function occupying the main part of the utility floor space. Figures describing construction of dwellings include both dedicated residential buildings and mixed-used nonresidential buildings.
Stage of construction data (including utility floor space) is subject to revisions in part because of delays or mistakes in registering projects with GAB. However, such revisions are uncommon.
