The statistics constitute a short-term economic indicator for the industry for construction of new buildings. They comprise information on building permits for residential construction and non-residential construction.
The statistics include all new buildings with building permission or building permit including the apartment contribution when converting apartment buildings. The base data comes from the municipalities of Sweden and also provide information about newly built and rennovated houses, by using data from the developers.
Beause of lags from the municipalities, the preliminary figures are underestimated and then revised quarterly to account for the correction in the reported areas.
